One more for the gram.

"Grief is the price we pay for love." 💔✨ — Queen Elizabeth II

This quote resonates deeply with me. Creating this piece on @kittldesign & @canva was a reminder that the depth of our grief reflects the depth of our love. Though loss can feel overwhelming, it also shows how much we’ve cherished, cared and connected.

I hope this post serves as a gentle reminder that it's okay to grieve and that love always remains in our hearts, even through the pain.

The day we bid goodbye

Dear friends and family,
Today we gather here to say goodbye to my beloved mummy, Lucy, who has fought so bravely against cancer since Sept 2019. I stand here today with a heavy heart, but also with immense gratitude for the life she lived and the love she shared with us.
My mother was a woman of great strength, resilience, and courage. She faced many challenges in her life, but none more so than her battle with cancer.

She devoted her life to raising me single-handedly and worked tirelessly to provide me the best possible upbringing.. Her love, guidance, and support have been a constant presence in my life, and for that, I am grateful. Mummy taught me the importance of hard work, perseverance, honesty and selflessness, and these values have shaped me into the person I am today.

As we say goodbye to my mummy today, I am filled with sadness, but also with hope. I know that she is now at peace, free from pain, and in the kingdom of God. She has left a lasting legacy of love and kindness that will live on through all those whose lives she has touched.
I would like to thank my mummy for being the most loving and caring mother anyone could ask for. You were my rock, my inspiration, and my guiding light. I will miss you more than words can express, but I take comfort in knowing that you are now in a better place. May you rest in peace, mummy. I love you always.

Modern Calligraphy

Having picked up modern calligraphy some time in 2017, I am still constantly trying out new brushes and pens to see which works best. Finally had the chance to pop by Straits Art Co right before my class... and I am very pleased with my purchase there!

Straits Art Co (founded in 1947) is a small art and craft shop that's located at North Bridge Centre. Though small, you'd be surprised at the large amount of varieties they have for all the pens, gouche, acrylic paints, canvas...etc. Ms Clara Tay and her son Yu, are overseeing the business and they have also recently introduced Grabpay (very wise choice i would say!).

And so, I only had a photography of the oblique nib pen that I was looking for, hence I decided to look for Yu to see if they had it in stock. I was told the particular one shown in the photo was out of stock, but he had quickly recommended me another kind that might suit me.

It was interesting to look at all those pen holders...Well it almost felt like I am picking a magic wand like what Hermoine and the rest in Harry Potter did...and yup true enough like how the wand had picked Harry, one particular oblique holder caught my eye.

So next I was recommended a suitable nib that would be able to produce the kind of font I had shown in my photo...and a bottle of ecoline ink (oh yes they have soooooooooo many lovely colors!). I can definitely foresee myself visiting this shop more frequently in the weeks to come...Loved how friendly and knowledgeable the staff was!

So here it is, my very first calligraphy pen (well previously I had only used those brushes and flat tip pen). And I can't wait to start practising it!

Here are the links for more information about calligraphy nib pens and the facebook page of Straits Art Co.

So back in April, I had totally fallen in love with the new Rose Gold Collection from Jujube and yes, it had me picking up my brush and drawing random flowers again...

Christmas with a new Tree!

And so we realised we had discarded our old tree and it was time to get a new better looking Christmas tree! Then November came and I kind of panicked...

Luckily after much googling, I managed to find my desired Ariostea tree from the Masons Home

Manufactured with FirTect Technology, the you can expect the following:
  • Easy-Open Branches – Say goodbye to manually bending out the branches!
  • Highly Durable – Not bending the branches means lesser chance for wear and tear.
  • Perfect Shade of Colour – Christmas Trees that are of a lighter green often look cheap.
  • Extreme Density – 392 tips for the 5 feet, 670 tips for the 6 feet, 888 tips for the 7 feet.
Wow, these descriptions sure sound good... and so I managed to place order with IsShoe.sg who is also a retailer for Masons Home (note: the tree that I wanted was sold out at Masons’ website!).

The people at IsShoe.sg were very nice and prompt in replies! Most importantly, they were there to assure me the the trees are of good quality and dense! (they even took photos and live videos to show me!)

Hence, to summaries, here’s a shot of our tree before and after hanging the ornaments!

Tree came nicely packed in a box.

Image of bare tree before decorating! (Already super happy with how dense it was!)

Tada! The final tree together with our red and gold ornaments!
(Now it's time to shop for all the gifts and place it under our beautiful tree!)

Some sketches from 2015

Was sorting out my files and happened to chance upon 2 sketches that I had forgotten to post here. So... here's some from 2015.

This was done for Daddy Wee. A simple drawing of us to wish him the bestest birthday of all.
Started on a new style without outlines.
