A note to oneself for the year of 2012: not all things are appreciated.

A lot of times, you do things for a good cause. For people you care about, be it friends, relatives, or even a stranger you'd see in the train..etc.

So it happened twice today... two incidents that were done and not appreciated at all. Yes I was a little sad and bothered by it initially. But after a long day, I've kinda learnt something from it.

I'd still be doing these things even if the people involved ain't gonna appreciate it a single bit. Reason? Just because I still care.

Imagine..one standing out in an open space..preferably somewhere out in the greenaries..with a clear blue sky and the God rays of sparkling sunshine beaming through the leaves of the huge trees...swirling in circles like how a ballerina would perform and dance on the stage..and there you have..the man of your dream, the love of your life...all dressed up in the smartest black suit standing right there with a smile..the smile that melts your heart..

I bet the frames will be very well captured if you've chosen the right photographer..

Yeah. That's the visual I have in mind. Would be pretty cool for a pre wedding shot. Elegance, romantic..sparkling with a tinge of sweetness.

Children.

Most of the people around me knows how much I love children. An uncle of mine once asked me...

"What are children?"

I was a little stunned for awhile. Dumbfounded. The question seemed so easy but my mind went blank for that split second. His answer?

"Children - they are gifts from god."

It totally made sense doesn't it. The very day they were born, they bring a whole lot of joy to the people around.. They ask the silliest but cutest questions..their innocent laughter is priceless.

Just when I was telling my mum back in June that I was thinking of volunteering or helping out with the CCF, an important email arrived in mykindofcards inbox. An invitation to take part in the fund raising event for CCF. Coincidence? I'd think God really heard my prayers!

So after a couple of emails and meeting up with the organizers, my partner and I have decided to sell cards on the day itself and hopefully we'll be able to raise more funds for the awesome group of lovely children. I'm pretty excited about it!

A FATHER'S RULES FOR FINDING FULFILLMENT

Be courteous, be punctual,
always say please and thank you, and be sure to hold your knife and fork properly. Others take their cue on how to treat you from your manners.

Be kind, considerate and compassionate when others are in trouble, even if you have problems of your own. Others will admire your selflessness and will help you in due course.

Show moral courage. Do what is right, even if that makes you unpopular. I always thought it important to be able to look at myself in the shaving mirror every morning and not feel guilt or remorse. I depart this world with a pretty clear conscience.

Show humility. Stand your ground but pause to reflect on what the other side are saying, and back off when you know you are wrong. Never worry about losing face. That only happens when you are pig-headed.
Learn from your mistakes. You will make plenty so use them as a learning tool. If you keep making the same mistake or run into a problem, you’re doing something wrong.

Avoid disparaging someone to a third party; it is only you who will look bad. If you have a problem with someone, tell them face to face.

Hold fire! If someone crosses you, don’t react immediately. Once you say something it can never be taken back, and most people deserve a second chance.

Have fun. If this involves taking risks, so be it. If you get caught, hold your hands up.

Give to charity and help those who are less fortunate than yourselves: it’s easy and so rewarding.

Always look on the upside! The glass is half full, never half empty. Every adversity has a silver lining if you seek it out.

Make it your instinct always to say ‘yes’. Look for reasons to do something, not reasons to say no. Your friends will cherish you for that.

Be canny: you will get more of what you want if you can give someone more of what they desire. Compromise can be king.

Always accept a party invitation. You may not want to go, but they want you there. Show them courtesy and respect.

Never ever let a friend down. I would bury bodies for my friends, if they asked me to . . . which is why I have chosen them carefully.

Always tip for good service. It shows respect. But never reward poor service. Poor service is insulting.

Always treat those you meet as your social equal, whether they are above or below your station in life. For those above you, show due deference, but don’t be a sycophant.

Always respect age, as age equals wisdom.

Be prepared to put the interests of your sibling first.

Be proud of who you are and where you come from, but open your mind to other cultures and languages. When you begin to travel (as I hope you will), you’ll learn that your place in the world is both vital and insignificant. Don’t get too big for your breeches.

Be ambitious, but not nakedly so. Be prepared to back your assertions with craftsmanship and hard work.

Live every day to its full: do something that makes you smile or laugh, and avoid procrastination.

Give of your best at school. Some teachers forget that pupils need incentives. So if your teacher doesn’t give you one, devise your own.

Always pay the most you can afford. Never skimp on hotels, clothing, shoes, make-up or jewellery. But always look for a deal. You get what you pay for.

Never give up! My two little soldiers have no dad, but you are brave, big-hearted, fit and strong. You are also loved by an immensely kind and supportive team of family and friends. You make your own good fortune, my children, so battle on.

Never feel sorry for yourself, or at least don’t do it for long. Crying doesn’t make things better.

Look after your body and it will look after you.

Learn a language, or at least try. Never engage a person abroad in conversation without first greeting them in their own language; by all means ask if they speak English!

And finally, cherish your mother, and take very good care of her. __________________________________________________________________________________
This was the message left behind by Paul, a teacher, who died of cancer at the age of 45 in November 2009. A sad but true story. Pretty meaningful I'd say.. and has definitely not lived his life in vain.

New hobby?

Oh gosh. Jing and I were out shopping for the things we need for Mykindofcard's upcoming event...and we came across many lovely scrapebook making tools, albums, papers, stickers and yes the list goes on and on. Saw this portable embossing machine that creates superb emboss on cards just by pressing it on the cardstock! Wow how cool is that! I'm so tempted to pick up this hobby. But it's bound to cost a lot of money. Everythings so nice and aww..expensive! And there's so many shops selling them now..Like Madewithlove @ Plaza Sing...Market Place...Okie set. I'm marking it down as one of the hobbies I wanna pick up soon. Well eventually one fine day I will start on it! Perhaps I'll start off with a purple fabric album first. Yeah! Sudden rush of creativity!

Stepping into the second half of twentyeleven

Its first of july. Half a year has gone by. So how much have you achieved? I haven't really gotten much of the things listed in my new year resolution striked off...but I'm still pretty much looking forward to this second half of the year. August, November and December in particular. Anticipation is the word.. so many wonderful things will be happening. Oh and I must say christmas is one of the greatest occasion that takes place right before the year ends. All thanks to God!

Chris Medina's What Are Words.

Alright, I had to blog about this super touching song performed by Chris Medina. A song about his undying love for his fiancee, Juliana Romas, who was involved in a serious accident just 2 months before their wedding.. I cannot imagine how disastrous and heart wrenching it was for the 2 of them. Especially if you've seen how bubbly and cute she was when Chris sprung a surprise proposal to her in Dec 2007. Amazingly, Chris stood by her and continued to love her even more than before. And every single time i hear this song, tears kinda start welling up my eyes. You can totally hear his powerful voice the huge amount of emotions that were put into the song.

Just a quick google, and you'll be able to find out more about their story. And for those of you who wanna know how Juli is doing right now,or to give a word of encouragement, do drop by www.forjuliana.org.

I've been reading a couple of the blog entries and I must highlight these words that Juli said.

“I want to get better and do everything I did before."

These are the words from a young girl who has been striving so hard to recover. She will be in my daily prayers from now on, and I truly hope that one day a miracle will come, and she will be all ready to walk down the aisle, towards the love of her life, with that forever beautiful smile of hers.

Bananas In Pyjamas Series

Yay! It's been officially announced on axapac! Bananas in pyjamas (animated series) world premiere will be launched this May 2011! Super excited about it. It's like we have been striving and working hard on this production for so long.. and now the world is finally gonna see it! The feeling is awesome. I personally grew up watching bananas in pyjamas (live action series) and I LOVE IT. Most of you would have already know how much I love my job and how much i love kids. Hence.. being able to work on a new production based on the australia's phenomenal success of the previous Bananas which been always been one of the favourite shows among kids, is one thing I'm really proud of. Alright it's time to get back to work.. To lead my team into producing more great animation works!

9th Jan 2011 marks the Big day of Victor & Jasmine as they start a new journey together as a newly wed. Being the Bride's P.A (personal assistant) was no easy task, but it was definitely worth the experience!

Here's one super awesome and inspiring 2D animation! Gosh, I'm amazed at how beautifully the shot is.. It's not easy doing a 2D animation, definitely much more tedious than 3D i would say. But then again, you'll have all the freedom to exaggerate and push the line of action without being restricted by the rigs. Ahh..an inspiring shot that makes me wanna push myself more while animating..and also.. I'm so tempted to learn jazz ballet!

So google had a short animation done up in memory of John. Well, one good thing about artists...they continue to live even after they die..leaving behind the numerous hits and wonders of his musical talent.

Tata...After what seemed like a really long wait, I've finally gotten a copy of the final pics from the couple photoshoot taken some time in June... My favourite purple dress, helium balloons, red roses, my dark red swatch watch...all the things I love.. And that definitely includes my very special Mr Wee. Colours of life

Lately, I've been busy with so many things on hand... plus i had to squeeze time out from my busy schedule to get my tooth fixed by the dentist: stage one of root canal done..i'm glad there wasn't much pain at all...well let's hope all goes well for the next appointment..

It's already coming to the end of june.. All thanks to God, the things that were scheduled in june all went smoothly... leading me one step closer to one of my goals in life.. Right now I'm pretty excited about what's gonna be happening this coming sunday... I hope the weather will be great on that day.. Just purchased the necessary tools and paper from ArtFriend during lunch time and I'm so gonna get down to preparing a handicraft work that may come in useful on sunday. Will post a pic of it if it turns out successful though..

Hooray! I've got my ticket for Jay Zhou's 2010 Concert in Singapore!!! And it's gonna be my 2nd time attending his concert... trust me, it wasn't that easy to get hold of the ticket... especially when sales priority was only given to ocbc card holders... Tickets were swept clean within mere hours since ticketing sales commenced at 9am on 14th April... Woohoo...something great to look forward to!

This is my best Monday ever. Morning started off well. Everything was good. Happily tweaking my animation shot in office...Suddenly, my colleagues presented me with a belated birthday present, The Art of UP! I was so surprised and touched. Totally love the book.

Met up with Crystal in the evening to watch Time Traveler's wife.. Gosh was so excited cos I've been looking forward to watching the movie ever since i heard of news that they were gonna make it into a movie. Well, the book was one of the best and most touching love story I've ever read. And true enough, the movie was awesome...Every important scenario was depicted in the movie...though some details were left out, but what was shown was sufficient to satisfy the ones who read the book.. Everything was so beautifully done.. I'm so gonna buy the DVD when its out. I wouldn't mind watching it in the theaters again. Haha gotta prepare more tissues lest i cry again too..

I just love the idea of time traveling. It just seem so magical and I really like the way events are connected with one another. Just like how i love Lake House (starring Keanu Reeves & Sandra Bullock). Past, present, future, all happening at the same time yet in different dimensions. Its a wonderful feeling. Anyway till today, Time travel has not been proven to be impossible or possible yea.. Wow..it'll be good if i can try time traveling once...Looking forward to reading more books from Audrey Niffenegger (author of time traveler's wife)

Very much inspired

I finally got to watch Pixar's 10th film, UP, in the theatres ytd. It was great. Very touching indeed. Its just so... different from the past pixar films. A different type of approach and it evokes a whole lot of emotion from deep within my heart. Awesome. Its like a dream come true seeing the house being brought up into the air with millions of balloons... something i had always wanted to try when i was a kid...not so much about flying a house up into the sky, but more of flying myself or a chair or something much smaller than a house... up.

Great movie and definitely a great inspiration to drive me into achieving greater animation shots.

Wow past few months been really busy... Passed my driving test on 14th July and now i feel like learning more new things. Haha.. mayb i'll start with Scrapbook art first. new GMAIL theme

wow.. i've just changed my gmail account to one of the latest theme they had, and its soooo cool. i was quite puzzled when told to select a country after i chose the theme, and only came to realize it this evening.. Oh well, it was raining cats and dogs earlier on in Singapore, and the theme actually changed from a normal sunny day, to a rainy day. With characters holding on to umbrellas and using newspapers to shelter themselves.. omg.. total coolness yea?? a very unique concept.. =)

ps: ooh and they actually have 2 different ones for rainy days, one with lightning, and one without. cute!

Wow, haha i just noticed i could actually upload movie clips straight on blogspot, without the hassle of going through youtube.. yay.

So heres a couple of seconds of the animation i did for my cousin..and the title slate of the photomontage. Well, I thought it would be better that i only extract out a small portion of it instead of showing the full clip, since it was specially done only for my cousin and his wife.

Yay! Just completed my cousin's wedding animation and photomontage for his wedding. It was a fun and interesting experience to be able to help out with his wedding. So heres an image of the characters that i designed for the animation. Been very busy the past few months..but will definitely be updating more stuff here soon. haha and right now, i've got to design one more card for my gd fren's 21st birthday!

Was out shopping with my mum when i suddenly saw these 2 swimming robes that were hanging on the rack. Haha, I was so shock to see the embroidered designs on it, cos it was actually designed by me about a year ago back in 2007. Was doing freelance for a client after my graduation, but haven't seen the actual final product until now.. Yay.
I just totally love doing designs for kids product..

Yay! Had a combined 21st birthday celebration with my boyfriend yesterday, and many thanks to all who have attended, and thank you all for the presents. So heres a pic of 2 presents that i especially love a lot.. Wall.E interactive robot toy from my colleagues at Southern Star, and The art of Wall.E from my ex-classmates. Totally hearts it.

Wow. Was at the arcade today with my dear, and we saw the Nightmare before christmas figurine boxset in those claw vending machine or UFO catchers. Got kinda addicted to the machine since we managed to catch a few soft toys previously. So we tried a couple of times today n i finally manage to catch the figurine! hahaha. SO worth it lah! Haha slight sense of achievement =)

Jay Zhou world tour 2008 concert

Wow. I finally got to attend jay's concert on the 18th jan and experience his live performance. And best of all, it was his 29th birthday. Luckily, the stage wasn't as far as i expected. Anyway the whole event was awesome, with him playing guitar, piano, and guzheng. Gosh! Im so gonna make sure that i buy the category 1's tix the next time he holds a concert here again. Agree ya Jing?? =)
Seriously admire him for his talent in composing songs, and of cos, piano!!!

Hi Peeps, well.. just shifted my website over to blogspot since i've decided not to continue with the previous domain anymore. So...meanwhile, pls bear with this layout.. haha though i cant really stand it anymore... ahhh need lots of help from nani b4 i can get my blogspot to look like my previous website. ok dokie, so lookout for the posts and new works soon.
